NUPENG suspends isolated strike in Ekiti after Aregbesola’s intervention

The Nigerian Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) has suspended its isolated strike in Ekiti state with immediate effect because of the intervention of Osun State Governor, Mr Rauf Aregbesola.

The crisis between Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayo Fayose and oil marketers in the state who had been at loggerheads over the location of some filling stations in the state was resolved by Aregbesola in Osogbo, capital of Osun State on Sunday evening.

The truce which was reached on the intervention of Aregbesola led to the end of the three week old industrial action embarked upon by NUPENG in Ekiti.

In his remarks, Governor of Osun, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola commended the maturity that the leadership of NUPENG and IPMAN exhibited in resolving the crisis between them and the government of Ekiti state.
Speaking shortly after the communiqué was read and signed by parties involved, Fayose said the he came down to Osogbo for the resolution of the matter to let the world know that the Yoruba nation can take care of its affairs.

Fayose commended the swift intervention Aregbesola in resolving the lingering crisis which had led to the isolated acute scarcity of oil products in the state.
