ATIKU'S DEFECTION IS A PLUS TO APC, -BISI AKANDE

ATIKU'S DEFECTION IS A PLUS TO APC, -BISI AKANDE

The Interim National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Chief Adebisi Akande has described the recent defection of the former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to the APC from the Peoples' Democratic Party as a plus to the APC

Speaking with journalists at his Ila-Orangun country home shortly after he was registered as a member of the APC in the ongoing registration of the party, Akande said the defection of Atiku is a sign of victory for the APC.

He said the party would welcome all other defectors from any of the existing political parties to its fold, stressing that the APC is the only progressive national party in the country. On the ongoing registration of the APC members in the country, the APC leader said "we are expecting over 13 million members to register in all the 120,000 polling units across the country. We engaged over 250, 000 personnel.

"We want to show INEC that is inefficient. We want to show INEC how to conduct free, fair and credible election. The registration will last for five days. After the party congress, interested members can register online," he added.

Akande blasted the Special Adviser to the President on Public Affairs, Dr Doyin Okupe, saying he lacks political value and as should stop criticizing the APC and its leaders.

"For Okupe to have said that the APC is a sinking ship shows that he lacks the basic knowledge of the country's political system." Describing Okupe as a politician without any political value, Akande said the Presidential aide, had been to so many parties before settling at the PDP.

JONATHAN'S ADMINISTRATION IS A FAILURE FEMI FANI-KAYODE

JONATHAN'S ADMINISTRATION IS A FAILURE FEMI FANI-KAYODE

Femi Fani-Kayode

The former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode has described the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan as a failure and urged Nigerians to ensure that he does not retun if he contests again next year.

Speaking with journalists in Osogbo, Osun state capital on Thursday, Fani-Kayode who defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the  All Progressives Congress (APC) posited that his former party was evil. Expressed worry on the state of the nation, Fani-Kayode explained that the incompetence of the President has caused many problems for the nation amongst the international community.

"Jonathan has failed in all sectors including the economy and security and if he should be allowed to continue in office, this country is heading for serious disaster and it will be calamitous."

He added "Nigeria is more divided now more than any time in our history. We are faced with a government that only believes in Ijaw value. The ijaw people have succeeded at imposing only what favour them on the overall people of the nation."

He blamed former President Olusegun Obasanjo for elevating Jonathan as Vice President in the administration of former President Umaru Yar'Adua and insisted that Obasanjo caused the present problem being experienced in the country as a result of his mistake in chosing Jonathan then. He, however, noted that "former President Obasanjo has started cleaning up the mess he caused by putting Jonathan in office".

He said the Yoruba nation has been marginalized by the Jonathan administration and called on all Yorubas not to vote for Jonathan in 2015. He also said that any attempt to allow President Jonathan stay in office beyond 2015 would spell doom for the Yoruba nation.

According to him "Chief Obasanjo is my great leader who I have a lot of respect for and I will continue to respect him but the truth is that Obasanjo caused the problem we have today. The joy of it is that the same Obasanjo who anointed an incompetent leader for Nigeria is now cleaning up the mess."

On why he left the PDP for APC, he said "the PDP is an evil and it must be stopped. The party lacks internal democracy and this is one of the strengths of the APC. Today, my leader and father, Chief Obasanjo has his sons and daughters in all the political parties and this is a pride for him and we his children."
