AFENIFERE VOWS TO RESIST IMPEDIMENT TO SUSTENANCE OF DEMOCRACY

The Yoruba socio-political group under the aegis of Afenifere Renewal Group, ARG, has vowed that it would not relent in safeguarding people-oriented developmental governance in the Yorubaland and also pledged to resist any form of impediment to the growth and sustenance
of democracy in the country.

Addressing a press conference in Osogbo on the efforts of ARG inmonitoring the performance of governors in the South-West states, the
National Chairman of the group, Mr. Olawale Oshun said the group is poised to protect the interest of Yorubas people of South-West and all Yoruba speaking state including, Kwara, Kogi, Edo and Itsekiri in Delta State. ARG said the nation’s return to democracy in 1999 restored the Southwest region to path of people oriented developmental governance and noted that the coming together of Southerners and Northerners in All Progressives Congress (APC) as a political platform was a good development.
According to Olawale Oshun, a committee set up by ARG to access performance of Osun State Governor, Mr Rauf Aregbesola has submitted its reports in which the current administration in Osun State was discovered to have performed well.
According to him, “what we saw is evidence of development. We can feel development and development is about the people. We visited some of the projects being executed by the current administration in the state and we observed that many of these projects are meant for future generation.
The ARG said further that “it is our joy today that Rauf Aregbesola has brought back that developmental focus to governance. There is no gain saying that education is a top priority for this administration which ahs taken this sector from parlous state it was before to an enviable state it is now.
“A lot of the government’s polices are designed to trickled down to grassroots at a quick pace, making its impact felt at the mostcritical level.
“We must also mention that massive projects of the Ring road, cargoairport and water work all of which have the potential to drastically change the fortune of this state.
“With what we have seen during our tour of the state, AfenifereRenewal Group (ARG) believes that it will be a great disservice to young and even unborn generations of the state if Rauf Aregbesola is not re-elected to oversee the complete implementation of on-going policies. We are not just talking about projects and contracts but policies that will positively shape the future prosperity of this state for generations.
“It is now left for us to jealously guard and protect this heritage that Rauf Aregbesola has brought back to us. ARG believes that, given another term in office will break several records in governance andset new ones previously thought unattainable," it said.
