‘Buhari has made significant progress’

A Political Science lecturer at Bayero University, Kano, Dr. Sa’idu Ahmad Dukawa, has observed that significant progress was noticeable in the first 100 days of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration with indications of a brighter future of the nation.

Delivering a paper at the 4th annual symposium of the Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (MSSN), B-Zone at the Osun State University, Osogbo, Dukawa noted that Buhari was on the right path with the moves he had made so far.

He explained that Buhari’s track record and his dogged determination to fight corruption were great signs for a brighter future, especially by way of retrieving stolen wealth and putting mechanisms in place to check stealing.

“Within the first 100 days of Buhari in office, significant progress is noticeable. The security situation and power supply have improved. Petroleum products are found in filling stations and at regulated prices,” the don stated.

In another paper, Prof Abdul-Lateef Oladimeji Sanni of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, said the dream of a new Nigeria cannot be realised except there are shifts in the way things were done in the past, and urged the citizenry to support Buhari’s anti-corruption efforts.

MSSN National President, Malam Muhammad Jameel Muhammad, had earlier urged the federal government to cut the cost of governance, diversify the economy, tackle unemployment and encourage local industrialisation so that Nigeria can achieve its dream of being one of the world’s 20 leading economies by 2020.
