75-year-old man commits suicide
over seizure of vehicle by VIO

A 75-year-old man, Pa. Adisa
Hassan has committed suicide because of seizure of his vehicle by Vehicle
Inspection Officials (VIO) in Osogbo, capital of Osun State.
The residents of Onward Estate at
Oke-Ayepe, Osogbo Local Government Area of Osun State were yesterday thrown
into confusion as they mourned late Hassan who was popularly known as ‘Baba
Tawa’.
Daily Trust correspondent gathered
that Pa. Hassan who had been lamenting over the seizure of his vehicle that he
was using for commercial purpose eventually hung himself inside the storeroom
of his house around 5am on Wednesday.
Some of his neighbors who spoke
with our correspondent explained that Pa Hassan relied on the commercial
vehicle as his means of livelihood and that he had been so depressed since the
vehicle was seized by the VCIO few days ago
One of his neighbours said he
thought Pa Hassan was going to mosque when he sawa him in the morning and
expressed shock that could resort into such terrible decision and kill himself.
Family members of the deceased and
sympathizers kept crying as some of the residents and associates of Pa. Hassan
were discussing the mystery surrounding the tragedy.
The Police Public Relation Officer for Osun State Police Command,
DSP Folashade Odoro told Daily Trust that the commissioner of Police in Osun
State, Mrs. Dorothy Gimba has ordered through and diligent investigation into
the alleged suicide and assured that police will get to the root of the matter.
