Court adjourns hearing on suit against Osun lawmakers to Sept 3

An Osun State High Court sitting in Osogbo has fixed hearing on the suit filed by Justice Folahanmi Oloyede against the state House of Assembly for Thursday, September 3, 2015.

                                                                        Aregbesola

Justice Oloyede had filed a motion ex-parte asking the court to grant her permission to institute a legal action against the state lawmakers over their recommendation calling for her sanction by the National Judicial Commission (NJC).

The judge had sent a petition to the state assembly making allegations of financial misconducts against the state governor, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola and his deputy, Mrs. Grace Titi Laoye-Tomori.

Besides, the judge called on the lawmakers to investigate the governor and his deputy which led to the Speaker, Hon. Najeem Salam to set up an ad-hoc committee.

The committee however gave the governor a clean bill of health but recommended that Justice Oloyede be sanctioned for her alleged refusal to back up her allegations with evidence.

But ruling over the application, the presiding vacation judge, Justice Adeyinka Aderibigbe granted all the five prayers sought by the applicant and ordered that the 11 respondents listed be served while adjourning the case till September 3.

Justice Oloyede approached the court asking that the said recommendations of the ad-hoc committee be quashed and that their actions be declared illegal, unconstitutional and null and void.
