Lawmakers representing Osun State in the National Assembly
and their colleagues in the state House of Assembly have acknowledged that
workers and pensioners in the state are facing hard times after being owed
salaries of several months.

As a result, the legislators under the aegis of Osun
Legislators Forum would hold a stakeholders’ conference in a bid to address the
economic woes of the state.
Addressing newsmen on behalf of Forum, Ayo Omidiran
representing Irewole/Ayedaade/Isokan in the House of Representatives lamented
that the economic hardship in the state was getting worse as infrastructural
projects have come to a halt.
She said the conference would bring together over 1,000
delegates including members of the opposition party, representatives of artisans,
market women and labour unions among others.
She added that all former governors in the state, their
deputies and former legislators and all the serving political officer holders
in the state are billed to be in attendance.
The Forum said it became imperative to convene the
conference so that every stakeholder in the affairs of the state can come
together to deliberate and then offer useful suggestions on how to get out from
the mess.
Omidiran explained that state governor, Rauf Aregbesola was
properly briefed on the motive of the conference and that he supported the
initiative as a platform that would generate new ideas on the running of the
state.
